The Resort

Goryu offers a variety of terrain options (especially considering the connection with Hakuba 47) and Goryu itself is especially well suited for beginners and intermediates. The lower level of Goryu (The Toomi Zone) is very gentle and likewise the Iimori section is perfect for finding your ski legs. Intermediates will enjoy the Alps-Diara Zone.

Advanced riders will find the upper resort area most interesting, especially the Champion Course and Adventure Course which are both quite steep. There is a small Open Tree Zone but those seeking fresh powder in the trees may be better served at neighboring Hakuba 47. Word to the wise, Goryu Ski Patrol strictly enforces off piste riding and will be quick to pull your pass if they catch you under the gondola or other prohibited areas.

Goryu Backcountry

The Goryu backcountry is accessible from the top of the resort through the gate next to Alps No.4 Chairlift. The area is clearly marked with warning signs so you won’t be able to miss it. Rescue outside the resort could be slow and expensive so be sure to only venture out into the backcountry if you are properly equipped, properly skilled and with a group of similar riders. It’s best to use a certified backcountry guide; you can learn more about Hakuba Backcountry Guides here.

Hakuba Snow Sports

Hakuba Snow Sports is one of the largest international ski and snowboard schools in The Hakuba Valley and calls Iimori Resort home. Group lessons and 2 hour private lessons are held here. Those who booking half or full day private lessons can choose any resort for their lessons.

Parks

Goryu has a very small park comprised mainly of banks. It is located along side the Tomoi First Chair Lift and is best for beginners.  There is an additional park in the Iimori section of the resort. Here you will find small and large kickers (3-10m) and a variety of jib rails. There are a range of options suitable both for intermediates and beginners. More advanced riders should visit the Hakuba 47 Park.
