Bernd’s Keller

Known for their excellent interpretation of favourite Alpine cuisines, Bernd’s Keller is a perfect place for an evening of exquisite dining and Après entertainment whilst enjoying the panoramic views over the Nakiyama slopes. The restaurant is located in Hakuba’s most popular ski in ski out accommodation, The Marillen Hotel.

Warm Inviting Atmosphere

Grab a drink at the bar serving original cocktails and German beers on tap or warm up by the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate or homemade spiced gluhwein.

Authentic European Dishes

The restaurant features delicious European cuisine and hearty German favourites such as cheesy fondue, steaks and grills, house-made sausages, schnitzel and pretzel sandwiches satisfying even the most rigorous appetites with an extensive International wine list to pair for a truly satisfying evening.

Ski Après

Sitting directly on the Nakiyama Slope, Bernd’s Keller is the perfect venue for Après.  The restaurant offers a great happy hour menu with indoor/outdoor seating and daily live music. We recommend the cheese fondue.

International Live Music

Bernd’s Keller also hosts free live shows outside the restaurant with acts like Hayden James, Hot Dub Time Machine, and Tom Tilley and Hugo Gruzman performing for happy Hakuba visitors last season.

Hayden James, one of Australia’s most popular electronic exports, performed a free live show in front of Bernd’s Keller.
People gather for Apres, Good Vibes, and Hayden James on the foot of the Nakiyama Slope. Hayden James performs on the outdoor porch of Bernd’s Keller.
Tom Tilley (Triple J Presenter) and Hugo Gruzman (1/2 of Flight Facilities) perform a free Apres show in front of Bernd’s Keller

Special Events

The New Years Eve fireworks and Happo-One Fire Festival also take place in front of the Marillen Hotel making it the Ideal place to spend your night on these special occasions.

The Bernd’s Keller Story

Bernd’s Keller, Hakuba’s only authentic European Alpine restaurant, is run and operated by Bernd and Naoko who have been promoting German food and culture in Japan for over 25 years. They first began in the early 90’s where they opened Bernd’s Kitchen in the Trendy Roppongi area of Tokyo. The restaurant today is still among the most popular German restaurants in Tokyo. They also started the first, and today’s largest, October Festival in Tokyo located in the beautiful Hibiya Park.
